We carry on with our hole-by-hole course guide and this week we are on the fourth.
Hole Four - 186/157 yards (Par 3)
The first par 3 on the course and it generally plays longer than its yardage. It is very important to club-up here. All the trouble is infront of the green, even going over the green leaves you an easy chip and it is a much easier shot than playing a bunker shot. Try and hit a high shot so it carries the bunkers and lands softly on the putting surface. It's a tough green to find as it is angled slightly on the angle. Par or nett par is a good score here.
The course is drying up nicely, we had some work on the greens this week. They were tined, but not top dressed. This is to let the air circulate and help dry and drain the greens.
I have been asked to inform you all of a fantastic bit of memorabilia that has been donated to a partner company who are having a charity evening to raise money for The Garden House Hospice, Letchworth which covers Stevenage and North Herts. The date is 14th March at The Wymondley Barns.
The memorabilia is a signed flag from the 2010 Ryder Cup signed by Colin Montgomerie and his winning team at Celtic Manor. It comes with an authenticity certificate and it is being auctioned and if anyone would like to make a bid please let me know here and I will put you in touch with the organiser of the fantastic event.
