It is that time of year again, the clocks have gone back (boo!) which means shorter days. The shop will generally be open at 7am and close at 4pm except on Mondays and Thursdays where we stay open longer for late night squash. The price structure has slightly changed with regards to green fees, peak time is now before 12 midday and after 12 is off-peak. Please see the website for prices.
The Titleist golf bag draw is still ongoing, as you are aware when you buy a dozen balls you have the opportunity to fill out a square on the draw sheet. The competition winner will receive a Titleist carry bag, so if you want a chance to win this great prize come in and take a look at our golf ball selection. The shop has some great winter products from hand warmers to waterproof suits. Following on from last week's newsletter we are still offering a FREE stud changing service when you purchase any soft studs or metal spikes.
In addition, we now stock gift packs which will be ideal for Christmas presents, so why not pop in and have a look. Alternatively why not personalise some Titleist golf balls as a gift this Christmas, or just to identify your golf ball in a fashionable way, see below for more details.
We have some work starting on the first tee this week.
The plan is to create a larger tee area by moving some of the soil from the front of the tee and moving it to the right hand side of the tee. At the same time we will be removing some of the shrubs, bushes and over hanging trees which interfere with the grass growth.
Furthermore, we have had a survey constructed on the trees around the golf course. The results showed that approximately 10 of our trees are dead and therefore classed as potentially dangerous.
The Local Authority plan to remove these trees in the near future so we will keep you posted on this.
What's in the bag?
We didn't have any volunteers for what's in the bag this week so I will show you my golf bag.
Driver- Titleist 905R, 9.5* Graffaloy Blue XStiff Shaft
3-wood- Callaway X Tour 15* Pro-force 65g Stiff shaft
Rescue- Sonartec 18*IROD 65g Stiff Shaft
Irons- Titleist MB Irons 3-PW True Temper Dynamic Golf S300 shafts (PURE'd)
Wedges- Titleist SM5 Raw Black 54* and 60*
Putter - Callaway Tour Blue Putter, Counter balance shaft.
Accessories -FootJoy sciflex glove, Nikon Range finder, Groove-fix cleaner, winter mitts
The first thing that may stand out is that my iron shafts have been PURE'd! What is this some of you may ask: 'SST PURE® is a patented process of shaft alignment that analyses a golf shaft to find its most stable orientation. Using proprietary patent-pending computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE Shaft Alignment System quickly locates the "neutral" plane in each shaft. By assembling the club with the shaft in this SST PURE'd position, off-line twisting and bending during the golf swing and at impact are greatly minimized. The SST PURE system also generates a printout for each shaft, showing it's structural and performance analysis'. If that's of interest let me know and we can discuss.
As we discussed with Luke's shafts last week, my 'long' clubs all have the same weight graphite shafts but my driver is X stiff due to the club head speed I create with my driver. My Sonartech rescue has been with me for years and is my trusty 'go to' club. Whenever I get a tee shot that doesn't quite suit my eye or I can't see a shot I want to hit with my 3 wood I'll take my rescue and get the ball in play even if that means hitting a longer second shot in. My wedges are new in the bag this year and are the new Titleist SM5 wedges, they are in a raw black finish, this is a personal preference as I don't like the glare from the sun on my wedges so go for the dull looking finish.
If you would like to take part in next weeks 'what's in the bag' please come in and see me or alternatively click here.
The perfect gift/treat this Christmas
