The Srixon Golf Ball promotion went really well this weekend and I'm glad all that took advantage of the FREE Golf balls enjoyed them and hopefully you found a ball that you hadn't thought of or used before that might make you think twice before you purchase your next golf balls!
Playing with the right or wrong golf ball is an area of importance that people don't think of. If you play with a golf ball that is fit for your swing speed, it will spin at the optimum spin rate, launch at the right launch angle and go further and straighter. So when you purchase your next golf ball why not ask yourself the question, 'Is this ball going to benefit my Golf?'.
A week into the world cup and is it same old England? I must of been watching a different game because I thought we were poor, yet everyone tells me we looked good :-/ Anyway onwards and upwards 2 wins and we will progress.
Plenty of time for golf before the matches so book your Tee Time and remember we have our 4-4-2 promotion going on. More details of this can be seen below:
Above there is also an advert for a Charity Day we have coming up at Panshanger. On Friday 4th July the JT Cup Golf Day will be played. Please click here for more information.
With a lot of other sporting events going on at the weekend, we of course had the US Open being played.
What a great wire to wire victory by Martin Kaymer - one of the most dominant victories at a major competition. Winning by a massive 8 shots is no mean feat. If you didn't know the story about Kaymer, a few years ago he won the USPGA and was one of the best golfers in the world. His natural shot was a fade but because he thought he should hit a draw he decided to remodel his swing and try and hit draws. This didn't work for him and he spent a few years out of the world top 100 before deciding to go back to his normal shot type, the fade. Since holing the winning putt at the Ryder Cup he has won numerous tournaments including The Players Championship and The US Open this year.
The moral of the story to this is play with what you have and learn to control the shot shape. Don't worry about what shot you should hit but hit what you know you can hit. If you need any advice on your golf, equipment or lessons please do not hesitate to ask.
If you notice there are some lines on the greens, these were caused by a defective nozzle on the sprayer which caused a heavier spray coming out of the nozzle.
Unfortunately this didn't show as defective in the previous days test and on the day it was not seen until the fertilizer had started to dry.
The good news is that the lines will grow out, the greens are being cut every day and it is only a visual problem, it will not affect how the greens play.
Quiet on the club matches but the Seniors have been playing some matches. The Team recently played Batchwood at home, when I say played I mean thrashed them 6-0! I'm told only one match got to the 16th hole. Great win keep up the strong performances.
Don Preece and Bob Moon were in action again this week in the Crameri Cup playing at home against 'The Shire'. Even though they came over for a practice round they were still no match for Don and Bob who won without breaking a sweat 5&4. Good Luck in the next round!
Captain's Day and the Club BBQ are coming up on Sunday 17th August and the entry sheet will be going up soon. It is one major highlights of the year and would be great to get as many people supporting the event as possible it is open to everyone (friends, family, ex members, seniors, ladies, finesse staff, etc). It is 18 holes single stableford with BBQ afterwards. Tickets must be purchased for BBQ in advanced, numbers are limited. Various prizes on offer along with raffle prizes.
