World Cup Fever
After a long wait the World Cup is finally upon us. With the event starting this week I'm sure almost everyone will be glued to their TVs cheering on England. Let's hope with the exciting young players Roy Hodgson has included in his squad he actually uses them and doesn't revert back to the old guard.
The World Cup being hosted in Brazil means that most of the kick offs are late in the afternoon or evening so there is plenty of time for golf during the day and even after work especially as some of the kick offs are 9pm/11pm or even 1am as the tournament progresses!
We have a great World Cup offer which is for the duration of the event, Starting on the 12th June until the 13th July. We are calling it 4-4-2 (hopefully not the formation Roy goes with):
4 golfers, 4 Beers and 2 Buggies for only £100
T&Cs apply so why not call the shop for details on 01707 373711 and book your time!
Anyway, COME ON ENGLAND.
We also have introduced a new price level for June. The time bands are now:
Green fees are on a sliding scale.
Cutting is still the main priority with the warm wet weather making the grass grow extremely fast. The greens are being cut every day and once we get some consistent weather we will look to take a millimetre or two off the grass length.
We have also started ro re-edge the bunkers as you can see in the photos below.
The A side of the NAPGC Clapham Common Shield & Ellis Cup played their second round match on Sunday against Cheshunt GC. The Panshanger side, captained by Phil Bawden, lost 155 points to 141.
The Clapham B side's 3rd round opponents have been decided, and they will play Basildon - date to be confirmed.
The recent friendly match v Haste Hill was won by Panshanger. The team included 6 of our new members, so great to hear new members getting involved so quickly.
Senior results this week - Les Harris won the Senior Medal this week with a nett 72. He just beat Ron Brazier, Gerry Rowe & George Wood on count back.
Last week's Ladies NSPCC charity stableford was won by Kath Bodley and more money was raised for the charity - this time a further £81. The Ladies held their summer Swing this Tuesday. Trish Skinner and Jenny Swan both scored 33 points but Trish was awarded the Captain's Trophy on count back. Wendy Hampton achieved the longest drive on the 5th and Joy Nurton was winner of nearest the pin on the 14th. This main event was organised by Susan Minter and Ann Kelley.
