This will allow you to read our weekly words of wisdom from the comfort of, for example your sofa, office or even a train.
We would love you to explore my website and investigate the tips and drills, product catalogue and interact with any features we have on the website.
Our aim is to provide you with weekly relevant golfing related content. From product reviews to coaching tips, we want to explain how my experience and skills as a PGA professional can help you get the most out of your game and ensure you make the right choices when buying golf equipment. Finally, and of course most importantly, we want to keep you up-to-date with what is happening here at our golf course.
In this first week we have a couple of great articles, one of which gives you the chance to WIN a dozen golf balls. Tell us what your key personal priorities are when you are looking at buying golf equipment; Is it Brand, Price or Fit? Take a look at the article below and enter the survey.
We look forward to any feedback you may have so click here to tell us what you think about our new email and website.
After a very wet winter, of which some courses were closed permanently for up to two months, it shows how well our course held up and the work the greens team did in enabling us to be open as much as we were.
It's nice to of had such nice weather as we start the season off. This week saw some works on the greens, they were sand injected graden, this was used rather than hollow coring as the recovery rate is much quicker and the actual playability of the green is not affected much at all. The next planned woks is for the week of the 11th of August.
The out of bounds on 18 has been addressed. It starts from the start of the hole and ends where the two white posts stand side by side. If you are past these posts you are not out of bounds, anything short of them is classed as out of bounds.
So the season got off to a good start for our Scratch Team in the Herts Golf Union Champion Club Semi Final. Panshanger hosted the Semi Final and we were represented by Thom Cawley, Steve Garwood and Mat Larman. The event was the lowest aggregate score of all 3 team members. Thom, Steve and Matt finished in 1st Place with an aggregate score of 224 (+8), two shots clear of Brocket Hall and six shots ahead of Brickendon Grange in 3rd.
The Final is on May the 10th at Harpenden GC, teams in the final are Panshanger GC, Brocket Hall, Brickendon Grange, Chesfield Downs, Royston, East Herts, Essendon and Hadley Wood. If you can get over I'm sure the guys will appreciate the support or even a caddy! Good luck guys!
The Senior Team have started their matches as have the Ladies section. Both were in action against Nazeing and Enfield respectively last week with both teams having victories. The Scratch Team hosted Hertsmere on Saturday represented by Mike Harris, David Carr, Steve Garwood, Ryan Bartly, Callum Matheson, Phil Bowden, Matt Cowly, Jody Parsons.
I will be speaking to each section so I can have results for any competitions and published in future newsletters.
For anyone that has been in the reception area recently I hope you have noticed the changes and introduction of more stock.
The Club re-gripping service is going well, lots of people taking advantage of having their clubs re-gripped ready for the season. Grips that are worn out and also the wrong size can really affect your game. Grips that are worn out and slippery will make you grip the club with more pressure and increase tension resulting in less accurate and generally shorter shots. Grips that are too thin can mean your hands become over active through impact resulting in less accurate shots. Grips that are too thick can cause your hands to become less active and generally cause a blocked shot. If you want to discuss grip options please come into the shop and see us.
The Winn Xpro putter grips did sell out, but we now have them back in stock. They are becoming really popular not just amongst club golfers, but also on the golf tours around the world. Players like Phil Mickleson, Jason Duffner, KJ Choi and Victor Dubuisson to name a few all using the oversized putter grips.
The new FootJoy shoes are in stock and if you fancy any that we don't have that are in the catalogue, FootJoy promise a 24 hour delivery to us. So if you do fancy a new pair of shoes you won't have to wait long for them!
